del.icio.us daily blog post settings for WordPress.com users
Hey, folks! Well, things just got a lot more bloggy up in this piece. As many of you know, I spend way too much time trolling the internets. In fact, I hardly watch TV or read actual printed publications much anymore…Anyway, now you can basically read over my shoulder — I’ve finally got my daily selection of del.icio.us links setup to appear here. If you want to figure out how to do this yourself, here are the instructions:
Go to your del.icio.us user page, choose ’settings,’ then ‘daily blog post’ from the menu on the right. Then click ‘add a new thingy.’]
job_name: WordPressdailypost (or whatever)
out_name: WordPress.com blog username
out_pass: WordPress.com blog password
out_url: http://[your subdomain here].wordpress.com/xmlrpc.php
out_time: What hour (Greenwich Mean Time) you want to post (mine’s 18 for six oclock GMT)
out_blog_id: 1
out_cat_id: Go to the ‘Manage’ panel of your dashboard, choose ‘Categories,’ and choose the number to the left of the category you want the posts to appear for (I created a new one just for del.icio.us links so I can have a single category archive page with my history).
If everything is set up correctly, a post will appear with links you bookmarked that day, along with the text you entered like so. And your settings page will display the following:
